Beverly Hills

Welcome to Beverly Hills

Urban glamor in the city of stars

In the early 1800s, Spanish prospectors settled the land to develop ranches. Several years later, the Amalgamated Oil Company bought the land in search of oil. After failing to find enough oil, the company was renamed the Rodeo Land and Water Company and decided to change course by dividing the area into lots for sale.

In the years since, Beverly Hills has become widely recognized as one of the most glamorous cities thanks to its luxurious properties, upscale restaurants, celebrity culture, elite infrastructure, and high-end shopping centers. Beverly Hills offers prospective homeowners beautiful residences with unique and creative architecture. In Lida’s experience, she finds that buyers love peaceful neighborhoods like The Flats, which is less than a mile north of Santa Monica Blvd. Beverly Hills is also an ideal location due to its proximity to iconic cities such as Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Malibu.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel is a historic fine dining eatery famously known as a meeting place for Hollywood celebrities and power players. It has operated since the 1930s and maintains a vintage art deco ambiance. The Polo Lounge serves sophisticated Californian cuisine; when in town, Lida likes to pop in for a Sunday brunch and listen to the live jazz.

Mirame is an upscale dining establishment featuring traditional and modern Mexican cuisine. In charge of the restaurant is Michelin-star chef Joshua Gil, who bases his menu on locally sourced ingredients with freshly made masa from heirloom organic corn. Mirame features a rustic aesthetic — its mosaic tiles, fireplaces, and desert decor are a welcome contrast with the more classically elegant homes Lida sells in the luxury market.

Maude is a sophisticated New American restaurant featuring monthly tasting menus inspired by the season. Michelin chef Curtis Stone oversees the kitchen and curates a menu utilizing local California ingredients. Guests at Maude will feel at home through a warm and intimate dining room that accommodates 24 people and offers a view of the kitchen.

For a luxurious shopping experience, Lida recommends you head to Rodeo Drive. This iconic street has been a local landmark for years and has attracted shoppers for its multitude of designer stores, five-star hotels, high-end restaurants, and the renowned Two Rodeo. If you’re in town to check out luxury real estate, make time to shop the many brands of Rodeo Drive, like Balenciaga, Dior, and Fendi.

Things to Do

Lida recommends history enthusiasts pay a visit to the Greystone Mansion, one of the most prominent landmarks in Beverly Hills. The estate was constructed by wealthy oil pioneers in the early 1920s and is now considered one of the most luxurious estates in California. The hilltop property offers visitors gorgeous panoramic views and boasts beautiful Tudor revival architecture complemented by cobblestone floors, lily ponds, fountains, and 55 rooms. Its scenic beauty and unique visual appeal make Greystone Mansion the perfect location for weddings and commercial filming.

If you have time, drive up to Mulholland Drive and take in some of the best views Los Angeles has to offer. The street stretches 21 miles from Calabasas to Hollywood Hills and offers scenic mountain views of Los Angeles County. It has adjacent hiking trails and spots like the Universal City Overlook are perfect for taking in the sunset and relaxing.

The Virginia Robinson Gardens is a historic estate previously owned by Virginia and Harry Robinson of the Robinson department store chains. It was established in 1911 and was Beverly Hills' first luxury estate. This beautiful property spans six acres and has meadows, rose gardens, palm forests, a pool pavilion, a mansion, and an Italian terrace garden. Pro tip: the gardens are quite convenient to the The Beverly Hills Hotel and its onsite lounge and cafe.

Franklin Canyon Park spans 605 acres and features various amenities, including a concert hall, a nature center, and an auditorium. Visitors can enjoy picnic areas, a three-acre lake, more than five miles of trails, a duck pond, and oak woodlands. Weddings and filming are permissible at the Park.
